Jason Churchill P.E. - Chief Executive Officer
Jason Churchill leads a team with more than 15 years industry experience in the exploration, development and optimization of oil & gas properties. Prior to his current role, he served as VP-Operations for Venado Oil & Gas where he had responsibilities in planning and development of a 40,000 acre project in the East Eagle Ford. Prior to that, he served as Operations Manager for XTO Energy where he carried multiple responsibilities in the Barnett Shale development program. He began his career as a Drilling Engineer with ExxonMobil where he oversaw projects in the US Development and Deepwater Exploration Teams.
Mr. Churchill graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas, and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
J.D. Braddock CPL – Executive Vice President- Business Development & Land
J.D. Braddock has dedicated the vast majority of his career to business development, land management, and asset development. As a managing partner of PetroLegacy he leads the land team and the business development efforts of the company. Prior to forming PetroLegacy, he served as Land Manager at Venado Oil & Gas where he was responsible for acquisitions, divestitures, leasing, contract negotiations, title diligence, and land operations management for the company. Previously he was a Senior Landman at Broad Oak Energy, where he was part of a team that assembled large land positions, developed and sold assets in multiple basins in North Louisiana, South Texas and the Midland Basin. He began his oil and gas career as a Landman in 2005 negotiating contracts for Cabot Oil & Gas among other South Texas operators.
Mr. Braddock holds a B.A. in Economics from Louisiana State University and an M.S. in Entrepreneurship from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. He is a Certified Professional Landman, a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen, Austin Petroleum Landmen’s Association, the Permian Basin Landmen’s Association, and ADAM Permian.
Aaron Gutierrez – Executive Vice President- Engineering & Asset Development
Aaron Gutierrez has over 11 years of industry experience primarily focused on reservoir engineering and asset development. Prior to forming PetroLegacy Energy, he served as Asset Manager for Samson Resources in the Mid-Continent and Rocky Mountains Divisions. Prior to that, he held various roles in reservoir, completions and production engineering with Samson Resources.
Mr. Gutierrez began his career as an operations engineer with Burlington Resources in the San Juan Basin and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.
Kris Simpson – Chief Financial Officer
Kris Simpson has spent his entire 12-year career focused on the oil & gas and finance sectors with a specific expertise in mergers and acquisitions and capital markets financings. Prior to joining PetroLegacy, he served as Chief Financial Officer for Luxe Energy and Luxe Minerals, during which time Luxe Energy sold to Diamondback Energy in a highly successful monetization. Prior to that, he served as Principal of the Energy & Minerals Group, a management company for a series of specialized energy private equity funds. Mr. Simpson began his career with Credit Suisse First Boston as an oil and gas focused investment banking Analyst in Houston, Texas. He was later promoted to Associate in 2008.
Mr. Simpson is a graduate of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Minor in Accounting. He also serves as a Council Member on the University of Texas MSF Advisory Board.
